Okay, so I got it into my head that I wanted to figure out what kind of Rey Mysterio tattoo I’d get. Not that I’m actually gonna get one, but, you know, it’s fun to think about. I’m a huge fan of the guy, love his style, and his story is just insane. The dude’s a legend. Anyway, I started by diving deep into the internet, looking for anything related to his ink.
First, I went down a rabbit hole of fan pages. Man, there are a lot of dedicated Rey Mysterio fans out there! I spent hours just scrolling through pictures and reading comments. Some were easy to spot, like the “619” on his forearm. That’s his hometown area code, Chula Vista, California. Made sense. Also found out that the “1976” on his left arm is for the year his uncle, who was his mentor, started wrestling. And the “1995” on his right arm? That’s when Mysterio himself hit the pro scene. The guy’s basically a walking wrestling history book.
Digging Deeper
Then I started looking at actual tattoo designs that people had gotten. Lots of masks, obviously. Some people went for realistic portraits, others did more stylized versions. I saw a few that incorporated his “619” catchphrase, which is pretty cool. There were even some that had little details from his different outfits over the years. You know, like the colors, or the patterns he’s worn.
Pinterest Adventure
Of course, I hit up Pinterest. That place is a goldmine for tattoo inspiration. Just typed in “Rey Mysterio tattoo” and boom! Tons of stuff popped up. I found some really creative designs there. Some were full back pieces, which is wild. Imagine having Rey Mysterio’s mask covering your entire back! And that’s just about the back of him, there’re still many other parts, like his arms, hands, fingers…
Finding the Gems
- One guy had a tattoo that combined Rey’s mask with a Mexican sugar skull. It looked awesome. I guess it’s a nod to his heritage.
- Another one I saw was just the “619” but done in a really cool font that kinda looked like it was made of ropes, like the ones in a wrestling ring.
- Then there was this one that was just Rey’s eyes, but they were done in a way that made them look like they were glowing. Super intense.
- Oh, and I learned that he just got some new ink on his fingers! It’s the masks of a bunch of Mexican wrestling legends: El Santo, Blue Demon, Mil Mascaras, and a few others. Pretty awesome tribute.
Honestly, after all this, I’m even more impressed by the guy. His tattoos tell a story, and they’re not just random. They’re about his family, his career, his roots. I still don’t know exactly what kind of Rey Mysterio tattoo I’d get if I were to get one. But it was a blast looking at all the possibilities and learning more about the man behind the mask.
He has a lot of tattoos. Did you know that? He has 37 of them and most of them are meaningful and important to him. And he is almost 49 years old but you can still see him fighting in the ring!
I can get inspired a lot from him. He is the reason why I started this journey. He will also be the reason for me to keep exploring. His spirit will be with me.
