Okay, so, let me tell you about this crazy thing I got into – face mask wrestling. Yeah, you heard that right. It all started when I stumbled upon some old-school videos of “lucha libre.” I was like, “What in the world is this?” These guys were flipping around in these wild, colorful masks, and I was hooked. I just thought, “I gotta try this!”
I did a little digging, and it turns out these masks go way back. Like, ancient Aztec times back. Pretty cool, right? Anyway, I decided I needed a mask of my own. Nothing fancy, just something basic to get started. I found this simple one online, solid color, nothing too flashy. It fit pretty snug, which I guess is the point.
Next, I needed someone to wrestle with. I called up my buddy, Mark, who’s always up for a good laugh. I told him about my idea, and he was in before I even finished explaining. “Dude, face mask wrestling? I’m in!” So, we set a date and time. I also let him pick a mask from the store, we went together.
The day came, and we met up at the park. We cleared out a little space, and put on our masks. Let me tell you, seeing each other in those masks was hilarious. We looked ridiculous, but in a good way. We started slow, just kind of feeling it out. We did some basic moves, some holds, and takedowns. It’s actually harder than it looks, especially when your vision’s a bit restricted by the mask. I felt like I could not see him sometimes, which is funny and scary at the same time.
We wrestled for maybe 20 minutes, and we were both dying laughing the whole time. We were stumbling around, bumping into each other, and just generally looking like idiots. But it was so much fun. And we got the other people in the park laughing with us. It was a good time all around.
Afterward, we were both pretty sore. It’s a good workout, I’ll give it that. But more than that, it was just a fun, silly experience. We decided to make it a regular thing, maybe once a month or so. We even talked about getting some more elaborate masks, maybe some with horns or crazy designs. I would love to have some with crazy hair, but I am not sure if I can find it.
So, yeah, that’s my story about getting into face mask wrestling. It’s not something I ever thought I’d be doing, but I’m glad I tried it. It’s a great way to let loose, have some laughs, and get a little exercise in the process. If you’re looking for something different to try, I highly recommend it. Just make sure you’ve got a good buddy to do it with, and maybe some padding, just in case.
- Find a mask: It can be a simple one.
- Find a friend: Someone who’s up for some fun.
- Find a space: A park, a backyard, anywhere with some room.
- Have fun: Don’t take it too seriously. It is all about laughs.
I think next time, I will add some music, maybe some rock music to make it more fun. I have to start practicing some cool moves too. I will keep you guys posted for my next face mask wrestling!
