So, today I wanna talk about that match at WWE Money in the Bank, where I was up against Seth Rollins. Man, that was a crazy night. There’s been a lot of chatter online about what happened during the end of that match, and I figured I’d share my side of the story.
I went into that match feeling pretty confident. I mean, I had a good run, right? I even held the title for a while until Gunther took it from me at SummerSlam. But hey, that’s the game. You win some, you lose some. I remember talking to this guy, Justin Barrasso, from Sports Illustrated, about that loss. We talked about the ups and downs, and I told him how much I learned during my time as champion.
Anyway, back to Money in the Bank. The match with Rollins was intense. We were going back and forth, giving it our all. Then came the moment everyone’s been talking about. Rollins went for the pin, and the ref started counting. Here’s the thing – I didn’t forget to kick out. I know some folks online were saying it was a “botched spot” or whatever, but that’s not what happened.
See, there was this other situation going on. McDonagh, that guy, he accidentally hit me with the briefcase during a match where me and Finn Bálor lost our tag team titles to Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. That was at Fastlane, back on October 7th. That briefcase thing messed me up more than people realized.
So, during the pin with Rollins, I was still feeling the effects of that hit. It wasn’t about forgetting to kick out; it was more like my body just wouldn’t cooperate. The ref saw what was happening and stopped the count at two. He knew something was off, and I appreciate him looking out for me like that.
I also had to change my finisher a while back, you might remember. When Cody Rhodes came back to WWE, I noticed our finishers looked kind of alike. His “Cross Rhodes” and my old one were just too similar, so I decided to switch things up. I had to, you know, it’s important to have your own unique moves in this business. And also, at the September 25 episode of Raw, me and Finn, we beat the hell out of Owens and Zayn to keep our titles. We had a good time.
- Going into the match: Feeling confident, ready to defend.
- The match itself: Intense, back and forth with Rollins.
- The pin attempt: I didn’t forget to kick out, the ref stopped at two.
- The aftermath: Lots of online chatter, but it wasn’t a mistake.
- Previous injury: Still recovering from McDonagh’s briefcase hit at Fastlane.
- Changing my finisher: Had to do it because it looked too much like Cody’s “Cross Rhodes.”
- Previous victory: Me and Finn, successfully defended our titles against Owens and Zayn.
That’s pretty much the whole story. It wasn’t some big blunder or anything. Just a combination of things that led to a weird moment in the match. I’m still out here, still fighting, and still learning. That’s what it’s all about, right? Thanks for listening, guys. I’ll be back in the ring soon, ready to give it my all, as always.
