Okay, so I’ve been messing around with the Georgia Tech football roster lately, trying to figure out who’s who and what’s what. I wanted to sort of map out their depth chart, you know, see who the starters are, who the backups are, and all that jazz. It’s a bit of a puzzle, but a fun one.
I started by gathering all the info I could find. There’s the official team website, some sports news sites, and even a couple of fan forums that had some interesting tidbits. It was a lot of digging, but I managed to piece together a pretty good list of players.
Then came the real work – figuring out the positions and where each player fits in. I looked at their jersey numbers, their listed positions, and any news articles that mentioned who was starting or getting playing time. I also checked out some past game stats to see who was actually on the field. For example, I noticed that #15 Luke Harpring is mentioned as a tight end and a defensive end. That means he’s a two-way player. It is a interesting finding!
- LEFT GUARD 67 JOE FUSILE ……………… 6-6 ….. 315 …. r-Jr.
- #44 Kyle Efford. Hometown Dacula.
- #15 Luke Harpring is a two-way player.
I wrote everything down, making notes of heights, weights, and year in school. For instance, JOE FUSILE is listed as the left guard, and he’s a big guy at 6’6″ and 315 pounds. And this Kyle Efford, #44, is from Dacula. It’s these little details that make it interesting for me.
After a while, I had a decent-looking depth chart. It wasn’t perfect, mind you, but it gave me a much better idea of the team’s lineup. I could see who the main guys were at each position and who was waiting in the wings. And who knows, maybe I will see them in Oct 19, 2024; Atlanta, Georgia. Or, maybe in Nov 21, 2024; Atlanta, Georgia. Or, I just realized that Aug 24, 2024; Dublin will be the first day! I have to mark it down to my notebook.
My Findings
This whole process was more than just making a list, though. It gave me a new appreciation for the work that goes into managing a college football team. And it made me realize how much I enjoy this kind of detective work. This is really a good start, and I think I will keep following the team’s updates.
