Okay, so I’ve been seeing these Drake nail decals everywhere lately, and I finally decided to give them a try. I’m not usually one for super flashy nails, but I figured, why not? It’s Drake!
First things first, I had to find the decals. I ended up ordering a sheet online – super easy, and they weren’t expensive at all. While I was waiting for them to arrive, I prepped my nails. I removed my old, chipped polish with some acetone and cotton pads – a classic move. Then I filed them into a nice, even shape and pushed back my cuticles. Gotta have a clean canvas, you know?
- Find the decals
- Prep nails
- Apply decals
- Finish with top coat
Once the decals arrived, the fun part began! I cut out each little Drake face carefully. There are so many of them! Each decal needed to be soaked in water for a few seconds. I just filled a small bowl with water and used tweezers to dip each decal. Once completely soaked, I took the decal out of water and dried off the excess water with a paper towel.
Then, I carefully slid the decal off its backing and placed it on my nail. It took a few tries to get them positioned just right, but I got the hang of it. If the decal starts to wrinkle, you can gently smooth it with your finger. If you are struggling to move the decal around after you have applied it to your nail, you can use a little water to help you reposition it. You can also use a top coat polish to help you move the decal around. This creates a slippery barrier between the decal and your nail, which makes it much easier to move it around.
Once I was happy with the placement, I sealed everything in with a clear top coat. I was a little worried about the decals peeling off, but the top coat really helped them stay put. And I gotta say, they looked pretty awesome. I’m not gonna lie, I felt a little extra cool rocking Drake on my nails.
My Final Thoughts
Overall, it was a fun little experiment! It’s definitely a conversation starter. If you want to remove these, just soak your nails in acetone for a little bit and then gently remove them. You can also use vinegar as it helps break down the adhesive of the sticker. If you haven’t topped your manicure off with a gel, then the removal process is much easier. If you don’t want to take them off yourself, you can always go to a nail salon and have a technician take them off for you. But these are pretty easy to remove on your own. I would definitely try different designs in the future, maybe something a little more subtle next time. But hey, at least I can say I had Drake on my nails once!
