Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another gaming deep dive. Today, I grabbed a copy of NBA 2K24, and you know I had to check out my guy Jamal Murray’s rating. This dude just came off a killer season, right? Averaged like 21 points and 6 assists, helped carry the Nuggets to the finals. So, I had some pretty high expectations.
First Look at the Ratings
I fired up the game, went straight to the roster, and started scrolling. First thing I noticed, Nikola Jokic got a 98 overall rating. Dude’s a beast, totally deserved. But then I got to Jamal, and I was like, “Wait a minute…”
Jamal Murray’s Initial 2K24 Rating
They gave my man an 84! 84? I couldn’t believe it. I mean, I wasn’t expecting him to be in the high 90s or anything, but an 84 after the season he had? Seemed kinda low. I even saw some fake leaks online before the game came out, and even those had him at an 84. I was scratching my head, thinking there’s no way that’s right.
Digging Deeper into the Stats
So, I started looking at his individual attributes. His shooting stats were pretty good, playmaking was decent, but I think his defense might’ve dragged him down. I saw somewhere online that he had a defensive rating of 116.0 this season. Not the best, but I’ve seen worse, for sure.
Checking Out Other Players
Then, I compared him to some other point guards in the game. I saw some guys rated higher who, in my opinion, didn’t have nearly as good a season as Jamal. It just didn’t add up. I started to think maybe 2K was underrating him a bit.
The Update and the Real Rating
But then, I did some more digging, and found out that 2K Sports must have heard all the noise from the fans. They actually bumped up Jamal’s rating! His official rating got changed to an 88. Now, that’s more like it. An 88 feels way more appropriate for a player of his caliber, especially after that playoff run.
My Final Thoughts
It’s good to see 2K Sports listening to the community and adjusting the ratings. I think they got it right with this one. I mean, I guess you could argue that they didn’t have to give him a low rating and then have to fix it later, but at least they fixed it. Anyway, an 88 for Jamal Murray? I’ll take it. He’s gonna be a beast in the game, just like he is in real life. Time to hit the virtual court and see what he can do!
What do you guys think? Is an 88 a fair rating for Jamal Murray? Let me know in the comments below!
