Man, the other day I was looking at the schedule for the Dodgers and Phillies, right? And I got sucked into this whole thing, comparing the two teams. I gotta say, it got pretty interesting.
So, first off, I noticed that the Phillies have been doing better lately. They have a better record, like 11-8. And the Dodgers, they’re good, but they’re kind of chasing the Phillies at this point. It’s like they’re trying to catch up to get that top spot in the NL, you know?
I started digging into their past games, their head-to-head history, and boy, that was a trip. I went all the way back to 2007! I was checking out all these stats like AB, R, H, 2B, you name it. Just trying to get a feel for how these teams match up. It’s crazy how much data there is out there.
- Checked out the head-to-head records.
- Compared recent performance.
- Looked at some individual player stats.
Then, I saw that the Dodgers are supposed to have Kershaw pitching. Now, his ERA hasn’t been great lately, over 5 or something. So, he’s gonna need to step it up. And for the Phillies, they’ve got this guy Sanchez, I think his record is like 7-7, so he’s been kinda up and down.
I also stumbled upon this betting site, Caesars or something, and they had the Dodgers as the favorites to win. But it was close, like -140 or something. And they had this over/under thing at 9, which I guess means how many total runs they think will be scored.
And get this, I even found out about the Oklahoma City Comets. Apparently, they’re like a minor league team for the Dodgers. I didn’t even know that. They play in Oklahoma City, at some ballpark there. It’s interesting how all these teams are connected, right?
What I Did
Basically, I just spent a bunch of time looking up stats and info about the Dodgers and Phillies. It was a bit of a rabbit hole, but hey, it was fun. I ended up with a better understanding of how these two teams stack up against each other. Who knew a simple schedule check could turn into all this?
So yeah, that’s my little adventure into the world of baseball stats. It’s not something I do every day, but it was definitely an interesting way to kill some time. And who knows, maybe I’ll start following these teams a bit more closely now. Or at least, I’ll know a bit more when they play each other next time.
