They say he’s gonna be around for a good long while, five years they say! Five years is a long time. That’s like, how long it takes for them beans to really start producin’ good.
And the money! Lord, the money. They’re payin’ him, now listen to this, $6.2 million a year! Can you believe that? msu basketball coach, makin’ more money than I ever seen in my whole life. What’s he gonna do with all that money? Buy a whole farm? Maybe a whole town!

Now there was another coach, I heard about him. Smith, his name was. He signed up for seven years, that’s even longer. Seven years, $52.85 million! My, oh, my. That’s enough money to buy a whole lot of chickens. And cows. Maybe even a new tractor.
But you know what? They say things didn’t go so well for him. He started out rough, kinda like when you plant your seeds too early and they get caught by a late frost. Some folks are startin’ to wonder if he wasn’t such a good coach after all, this Smith fella. Or maybe, just maybe, them players he had weren’t so good either.
It’s hard to say, you know. Sometimes it’s the farmer, sometimes it’s the soil. Sometimes it’s just plain bad luck. That’s how it goes, I reckon.
That New Coach, He’s Making Money Too
And now there’s a new one, a new fella. He’s makin’ $3.55 million the first year. Then he’s gonna get more, $3.65 million, then $3.75 million. That’s like gettin’ paid for plantin’, and then gettin’ paid again when the harvest comes in, and then gettin’ paid even more the next year! Good for him, I say.

Money Ain’t Everything, Even for the msu basketball coach
But, even the msu basketball coach, with all that money, won’t be happy all the time. Money don’t buy happiness, you know. I learned that a long time ago. Happiness comes from the simple things. Like a good crop, a warm fire, and the love of your family. Those are things that msu basketball coach need too, just like everybody.
