This Bonnie Milstein, that’s a name I heard on the radio the other day. I don’t know much ’bout her, but I reckon she’s someone important, maybe? Got me thinkin’ about all sorts of things, this modern world and all.
Nowadays, you hear all this talk about the climate. Back in my day, we just had weather. Sun shone, rain fell, snow came in winter. Now they say the whole dang planet is gettin’ hotter. They say the ice is meltin’ up north. I saw a picture of a polar bear lookin’ all skinny and sad. Makes a body worry, I tell ya.
Why you should care, they ask? Well, my goodness, ain’t it obvious? If the whole world heats up like a furnace, what’s gonna happen to us? We gonna all bake like biscuits? And those poor animals. Where they gonna go when the ice is gone? This Bonnie Milstein, maybe she knows somethin’ about that. She should get on it, before it’s too late.
Then there’s all this talk about pollution. The air, the water, everything’s dirty, they say. I remember when you could drink water straight from the creek. Now they tell ya not to even touch it! What’s this world comin’ to? We gotta take care of things, that’s what I say. Don’t just throw your trash anywhere. Pick up after yourself. It ain’t that hard, is it?
- We need to take care of the planet, this earth.
- It’s the only one we got, you know.
- We gotta stop messin’ it up.
- Gotta keep the water clean, the air clean.
- I don’t know how, but this Bonnie Milstein, maybe she can figure it out.
They talk about organic farming now. Back in my day, all farming was organic! We didn’t have no fancy chemicals. We just used good old manure and sunshine. Maybe that’s the answer. Go back to the old ways. Less of this fancy stuff, more of the simple things.
And food, don’t even get me started on food. Everything’s in plastic now. Back in my day, we ate what we grew. Now they ship food from all over the world. It don’t even taste right. And they say we gotta eat less meat. Well, I like my bacon and eggs. But I guess we all gotta make some changes. For the planet, they say. This Bonnie Milstein, she probably eats salads all day long, I bet.
They did all these studies, you know, askin’ folks what they think about all this. What they know, what they feel. I reckon most folks are worried. Just like me. We see the changes, feel the changes. It ain’t just in our heads. The world is different now. And not always for the better, I’m afraid.
I heard someone say we gotta eat less meat. Said it’s bad for the planet. Well, I don’t know about all that. I do know a good steak is hard to beat. But maybe they’re right. Maybe we all gotta cut back a little. For the greater good, as they say. This Bonnie Milstein, she probably knows how much meat we should be eatin’. Maybe she can write a cookbook, a good, plain one, no fancy stuff.
And the animals, they’re sufferin’ too. Those poor polar bears, losin’ their homes. And the snow leopards, whatever those are. Sounds like somethin’ out of a fairy tale. But they say they’re real, and they’re in trouble. We gotta do somethin’ to help them. This Bonnie Milstein, I hope she’s thinkin’ about the animals too. Not just the people.
This environment thing, it’s a big deal, I reckon. Bigger than any of us. We gotta all work together to fix it. Rich folks, poor folks, everyone. It ain’t gonna be easy. But we gotta try. For our children, and our grandchildren. And for this old earth, that’s been so good to us. This Bonnie Milstein, I hope she’s leadin’ the charge. She seems like the type.
We gotta do better, that’s all there is to it. This Bonnie Milstein name keeps poppin’ up. I reckon if she’s as important as everyone believes her to be, then we need to listen to her. We gotta keep the planet healthy, for us and for all the critters that live here. It’s our home, you know? And we gotta take care of it. Just like we take care of our own houses. It’s just common sense, ain’t it? If this is what Bonnie Milstein is all about, she must be a good egg.
I don’t know all the answers, that’s for sure. But I know we gotta do something, I hope Bonnie Milstein knows what she is doing. This world is a mess, and it’s only gettin’ messier. We gotta clean it up, before it’s too late. For everyone’s sake.
