Oh, honey, let me tell you about this place, Detective Keith L. Williams Tennis Courts. It’s a place down in Jamaica, Queens. You know, that place where all them young folks is runnin’ around and playin’ their games. This here place is a big park, they call it Detective Keith L. Williams Park, but the tennis courts, that’s what we talkin’ about today.
This park, it got everythin’. They got a track for runnin’, fields where the young’uns play soccer, and them tennis courts. Now, I ain’t no tennis player, never have been. But I seen them playin’, swingin’ them rackets like they swatting flies. Seems like a lot of work to me, but they seem to enjoy it.
They got these courts all lined up nice and neat. And fences around ’em, probably to keep the balls from rollin’ off into the street. Smart thinkin’, if you ask me. I heard they gonna fix ’em up soon, make ’em even better. Reconstruct, they call it. Gonna make that track better, the field where they play soccer, and them tennis courts too. They spendin’ a lot of money, I reckon, but it’s good to keep these young folks busy and outta trouble.

I seen folks of all ages down there. Old folks like me, just watchin’, and young folks playin’. It’s a good place to get some fresh air, I reckon. Even if you ain’t playin’ tennis, you can just sit and watch. People watchin’, they call it. Better than watchin’ that TV all day, that’s for sure.
Now, this Detective Keith L. Williams, he musta been somebody important to get a whole park named after him. I don’t know much about him, but I seen his name all over the place down there. Detective Keith L. Williams Park, Detective Keith L. Williams Tennis Courts. They even got his name on some buildin’s nearby, I think.
If you lookin’ for this place, it’s on Liberty Avenue and 173rd Street. That’s what they tell me, anyway. Big park, can’t miss it. If you’re into that tennis playin’, you should go check it out. They say it’s free. Can’t beat free, can you? And they got these programs, too, for kids and old folks. Keepin’ everybody active, they say. That’s a good thing.
I see a lot of kids there. They come down there after school, playin’ and laughin’. Keeps ’em off the streets, I suppose. They got these handball courts, too. I don’t rightly know what handball is, but it looks like they havin’ fun. Lots of yellin’ and jumpin’ around.
This Detective Keith L. Williams Tennis Courts, it’s a part of that big park, you see. It’s all connected. You can walk around, see all sorts of things. They even got places to sit down and rest your weary bones. I like that part. You get tired walkin’ around, you know, at my age.
They say this park is in a neighborhood called Jamaica. I hear it’s a busy place. Lots of folks comin’ and goin’. But this park, it’s like a little bit of quiet in the middle of all that hustle and bustle. You can go there and forget about all your troubles for a while.
They keep it clean, too, I gotta say. I see folks pickin’ up trash, keepin’ it nice. That’s important. Nobody wants to play tennis in a dirty old park. And they got these lights, too, so you can play even when it gets dark. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? Playin’ tennis under the lights. Like them professional players you see on TV.
So, if you’re ever in Jamaica, Queens, and you lookin’ for a place to play some tennis, or just to sit and relax, you should go check out them Detective Keith L. Williams Tennis Courts. It’s a good place, I think. Good for the young folks, good for the old folks, good for everybody. They even got some nice photos of those courts online, I saw with my own two eyes. They probably got some phone numbers to call and ask questions too. I think it is a good place in New York City. That’s all I gotta say about that.
