Well, let me tell you, that crossword thing, it got me all riled up. One is used in basketball crossword, that’s what they call it. Basketball, basketball, what is used in basketball? My old brain ain’t what it used to be, but I sure know a thing or two about that game.
My grandson, Jimmy, he’s a good boy, real good at that basketball. He’s always bouncing that ball, dribbling, they call it. Drives me near crazy sometimes, that thump-thump-thump on the porch. But I guess, it’s a good thing to use that energy.
So, what’s used in basketball? Well, the ball, of course! Big and orange, gotta have that. And the hoop, too. Gotta put that ball through the hoop. That’s the whole point, ain’t it? And they run up and down, back and forth.
That crossword, though, it’s trying to trick ya. One is used in basketball, but what one? A ball? It is a ball! I know it, but they want something specific, a special word. I’m sure it is a ball, it is the most important thing in basketball.
Jimmy, he wears those shoes, special basketball shoes. Says they help him jump higher. And shorts, gotta wear those loose shorts. And a shirt, sometimes with a number on it. I don’t know, I think it is too much, but they are happy.

They use a court, too, a big space to run around. Lines all over it. And they keep score, gotta keep score. One team wins, one team loses. That’s how it goes. And basketball is a very famous sport, all people know it, right?
There’s always a crowd in basketball games, people are yelling and cheering. Lots of folks watching. Sometimes on the TV, too. My Jimmy, he wants to be on TV someday. Playing basketball. He’s a good boy, that one.
But this crossword, it’s got me stumped. One is used in basketball crossword, it keeps repeating in my head. What is that word they are asking? Ball, hoop, net. They want one word for it. One word. Maybe it’s the net.
They got other words in that crossword, too. Words about basketball. Dribble, that’s one. And shoot, that’s another. And pass, yeah, they pass the ball. But this “one” is hard to guess.
One is used in basketball. But not in hockey. What’s hockey? That’s the game on ice, ain’t it? With sticks and a little black thing. Not a ball at all. So, what is it?
Maybe, maybe it is the net. They don’t use a net in hockey, do they? No, I don’t think so. They got a goal, but it’s different. Yeah, I bet it’s the net. That’s gotta be it. One is used in basketball crossword, and that one is net. It is used in basketball, but not hockey!
