Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this idea about 6’6″ NBA players, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I started off just kind of curious, you know? Like, what’s the big deal with guys who are exactly 6’6″ in the NBA? Are they special? Are they common? So, I decided to dig in.

First thing I did was hit up the internet. I figured there’s gotta be a list somewhere of all the NBA players, and their heights. And yeah, I found a few. It wasn’t super easy, data was all over the place, but I managed to piece together a decent-sized list of players, past and present.
Then came the fun part – well, maybe not fun, more like tedious. I went through this massive list, player by player, and highlighted everyone who was listed at 6’6″. This took forever, I swear. My eyes were starting to glaze over after a while. But I pushed through, highlighting, highlighting, highlighting.
Once I had my list of 6’6″ guys, I started looking at their stats. I wanted to see if there was anything that stood out about them. Were they mostly guards? Forwards? Did they score more? Rebound more? You get the idea. So, I started jotting down their positions, their points per game, rebounds, assists, all that good stuff.
- Went through my list and wrote down each player’s stats.
- Categorized them by position to see if there were any trends.
- Compared their stats to the average NBA player stats.
I spent days doing this, just crunching numbers and making notes. It felt like I was back in school, doing some kind of crazy research project. I even made a few charts, just to visualize the data better. I know, I know, I went a little overboard.
My Findings
After all that work, what did I find? Well, it was actually pretty interesting. Turns out, 6’6″ is a pretty common height in the NBA, at least relatively speaking. There have been a good number of players at that height throughout history. They’re not all superstars, but there are definitely some big names in the mix. And, they’re not all one position either, which I thought was cool. You’ve got guards, forwards, even a few centers who are listed at 6’6″ (though I suspect some of them might be fudging their height a bit).

The stats were kind of all over the place, but that makes sense. You’ve got your high-scoring guards, your rebounding forwards, and everything in between. There wasn’t one specific thing that jumped out and screamed, “This is what makes 6’6″ players special!” But that’s okay. It just shows that height is just one piece of the puzzle.
Honestly, this whole thing was way more work than I expected. But it was also kind of fun, in a nerdy, data-obsessed kind of way. I learned a lot, and it gave me a new appreciation for all the different types of players in the NBA, no matter their height.
So, yeah, that’s my story about 6’6″ NBA players. It might not be the most exciting adventure, but it was definitely an experience. Maybe next time I’ll pick an easier topic. Or maybe not. We’ll see where my curiosity takes me next.
