Well, howdy there! Let me tell ya ’bout this golf thingy, the 2023 PGA Championship. It’s a big deal, ya know, like when the crops come in good, but for them golf fellas.
What’s the fuss about this PGA Championship?
So, this here championship, it’s like the big county fair for golf. All the best players, they come from all over to show off their swingin’ skills. They got this fella, Jon Rahm, and that other one, Scottie Scheffler, they say they’re real good. Like the best bulls at the cattle show, these guys are the top dogs in golfin’. They’re gonna be whacking them little balls around, tryin’ to get ’em in the holes. Sounds kinda silly when ya say it out loud, but they make a lot of money doin’ it, so who am I to judge?
Where’s it happenin’ at?
They’re playin’ at this place called Oak Hill, on the East Course. They say they fixed it up all nice and fancy. It’s like when you give the old barn a fresh coat of paint, ‘cept on a much bigger scale. This ain’t no cow pasture, mind you. This Oak Hill, it’s seen a few of these championships before. They say it’s the fourth time they’re doin’ this championship there. Guess it’s a good spot for hittin’ them balls.
Watchin’ the Golf on the Picture Box
Now, if you’re like me and can’t just up and go to Oak Hill, you can watch it on the TV. They got this ESPN channel, and they’re gonna be showin’ it all four days. Then, come the weekend, CBS takes over in the afternoon. So you can sit yourself down with a glass of sweet tea and watch them fellas golf. It’s like watchin’ the chickens peck around the yard, but with more money involved. And if you got that fancy internet stuff, you can watch it on Paramount+ or ESPN+. Sounds complicated, but the young’uns seem to figure it out.
- Thursday and Friday: ESPN’s got it covered all day long.
- Saturday and Sunday: CBS takes over in the afternoon, after ESPN does their mornin’ showin’.
- Streaming: You can watch it on Paramount+ or ESPN+ too, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Who’s playin’?
Like I said, there’s Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler. They’re the big names, the ones everyone’s talkin’ about. But there’s a whole bunch of other fellas too, swingin’ their clubs and hopin’ to win. It’s like a barn dance, lots of folks show up and everyone wants to be the best dancer. They’re all gonna be out there, tryin’ to be the best golfer that week. It’s a tough competition, that’s for sure. You gotta be real good and real lucky to win somethin’ like this.
How Can You See It All?
Now, they’re gonna have what they call “wire-to-wire” coverage. That just means they’re gonna show you pretty much everything from start to finish. You can watch it on TV, on the cable, or on that fancy internet streamin’ stuff. They’re doin’ it from Louisville, Kentucky, on CBS, ESPN, and ESPN2. Seems like a lot of channels to me, but I guess that means more folks can watch. It’s like havin’ multiple roads to get to the market, you just pick the one that works best for ya. And, they’ll have somethin’ called tee times. That’s just when they start playin’ each day. They got the times for the first two days all figured out, but I ain’t gonna list ‘em here. Too much writin’ for this old gal.
What’s it all mean?
Well, at the end of the day, it’s just a golf tournament. But for these fellas, it’s a big deal. They want to win, they want to be the best. It’s like when you’re tryin’ to grow the biggest pumpkin at the county fair. You put in a lot of work and you want to show it off. It’s entertainment for us folks watching too. We get to see some good golfin’ and maybe even learn a thing or two. And who knows, maybe one of these days, I’ll even pick up a golf club myself. Probably just end up hittin’ the chickens though!
Conclusion?
So, that’s the gist of it. The 2023 PGA Championship, lotta fancy golfin’ at a place called Oak Hill, and you can watch it on your TV or that internet contraption. Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, and a bunch of other fellas whacking balls. Sounds like a good time, even if I don’t understand half of it. It’s like watching a bunch of young roosters struttin’ around, but with golf clubs instead of feathers.
